Ta-da!

We had a deadline and it approached quickly! My little sister got married a week ago and we had to get the guest room finished for my older sister to come stay with us. It was a blessing, to be honest. This work is emotionally and physically exhausting, so having a deadline forced us to get our little bums in gear.
Pat worked tirelessly to get the drywall prepped and sanded for texture and paint! I'm beginning to hate drywall and its blasted mud.
Here it is, ready for texture and paint. Luckily, Pat has been working on my moms house for the past 3 years and he already has a lot of the tools needed for our own house. With an air compresser and a texture gun and paint sprayer, he took care of most of it in a day!
The day before my sister was going to arrive, it was my turn to paint.
Or so I thought.
As soon as I got the paint stuff ready, both boys were begging me to help. I honestly loved the idea. Joshua got to paint his own bedroom. He took so much pride and was so careful to get it right and looking nice. We only had one spill! 🤣

Luke loved helping too. He decided his job was to get around the electrical boxes and he did great!
I really only had to do one wall myself because there was a live wire behind the door that we hadn't gotten around to installing it's outlet.
Here it is all painted!
Joshua loves the color and is so happy to have his own space! when he gets overwhelmed he just takes his tablet into his room and gets the quiet time he needs. It has saved us from a bunch of screaming already.😅

We decided to wait to do baseboards until all the rooms are ready for them.

After the wedding, we were completely wiped out and the idea of starting again on a new room was daunting. Pat decided to get a small project done, and I think getting that sense of accomplishment was enough for him to push forward to the master bedroom.
Here is our old sliding glass door and the huge mess from kids being home since April. 🤣 It was impossible for Claire to open or close and it actually fell on Joshua one day when it came off the tracks! Definitely time for the upgrade!
Pat and our friend Chris installed the new door in only a few hours! Yay!
The absolute coolest thing about this new door is that the blinds are actually inside the panes of glass. No more broken blinds!
We love the new door because it slides so smoothly and keeps the back room so much cooler. We have had a disgustingly hot summer, so it's really nice to not worry about that room as much.
My mother in law is going to come to stay with us for Labor day weekend and spend time with the kids while Pat and I take a long weekend for our 10th year wedding anniversary! It's a much needed and deserved break and I cannot wait to take it!

In other news: I start a new job tomorrow! I will be working full time from home doing data entry and I couldn't be more excited! It will be so nice to be able to stay home each night (if I want to! 😅), make dinner for my family and put my kids to bed. I know Pat is excited he won't have to do it alone anymore. 2021 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for us!
Here's some extra pictures from the wedding.

She is such a daddy's girl and I'm so glad I caught this moment at the wedding of them dancing. 😍.
