Big happenings!

The past few weeks have been starting new little projects here and there. I've been trying not to post anything unless we have something finished because watching drywall mud dry is super boring.
 But I have fun things to show now so here goes!
Pat has been working on the kitchen a lot. We are semi updating a few things. We hadn't planned on new counter tops for a few years, but the joints in the old counters were so warped that we decided on just putting new laminate in. If you give a mouse a cookie he will want to put a new sink in.  
Honestly, it looks so much better in the kitchen now, so I can't complain. The new sink is much deeper and nicer than the previous one.
Pat has been working hard to demo the bedrooms and hallway to make room for the HVAC ducting and lowered ceilings. He has a buddy at work that has been helping him with sizing and tips on how to make it as efficient as possible. We are putting ceiling fans in, a whole house fan and a vent in the roof for extra circulation as the heat rises. 
In Saturday Pat put in the pad for the HVAC unit on the roof. We are so grateful for good friends who helped him. It would have taken him days to get it done alone.

We have been blessed with a lot of beautiful spring days, so hopefully that continues until we get the roof sealed again.
There will be lots of ductwork and drywall patching in our future!

We had a deadline and it approached quickly! My little sister got married a week ago and we had to get the guest room finished for my older sister to come stay with us. It was a blessing, to be honest. This work is emotionally and physically exhausting, so having a deadline forced us to get our little bums in gear. Pat worked tirelessly to get the drywall prepped and sanded for texture and paint! I'm beginning to hate drywall and its blasted mud. Here it is, ready for texture and paint. Luckily, Pat has been working on my moms house for the past 3 years and he already has a lot of the tools needed for our own house. Ceilings are going in!

I already wrote this post out a couple days ago and auto save didn't work, so I gave up in frustration. Ha! So this post is going to be a bit longer as it will cover a couple days, so strap in. Pat has torn out the ceilings in the master bedroom, hallway and Joshua's room.  He was able to frame in the master bedroom last weekend while I was at work. I've been working every weekend since we bought the house so construction days have been short. It's been frustrating for all of us to not get as much done as we want. Our new dishwasher and oven were delivered on Monday! I had to run over there after the boys got done with distance learning to meet the delivery guys between 11 and 3. While I waited I cleaned up the front yard a bit. We have a massively overgrown privacy hedge with a huge palm that keep dropping fronds on the lawn on one side  and a bunch of roses and English ivy taking over said roses on the other side.

T minus 5!

5 days until moving day. 😨😨😨😨 This week will be all about getting the house ready to move in. We decided a month ago that we are moving on the 17th, ready or not.  We are definitely not ready, but the moving truck will be here at 8 am on Saturday, so we are getting our little butts in gear! Last Saturday was my first weekend day off since we bought the house! We spent all day there preparing the kitchen.  Before we started we didn't have a sink or microwave or oven and I wasn't about to move into the house without a way to cook and wash my hands. I am happy to say we now have a functional kitchen!  Yay! Yay yay yay!! I am pretty pleased with how the kitchen is turning out. This was not our priority project initially, but it quickly turned into a priority once we realized how central it was to all of our other plans.  We still have some finishing touches to make the kitchen prettier, but once we move in we will have so much more time to get things don
